Cemetery & Parks Meeting
September 12, 2016
Kimball House

The meeting was opened at 7:10 PM present were,  Tubby Boucher, John Barrett, Drew Funk, and Pam Haman.
Also in attendance were Bill Conway and Al Birrille.

Bills were reviewed approved and signed.

Minutes reviewed.
Appointments:
Bill Conway gave an update on the veteran’s memorial project.  He stated that the project has the support of both the VFW and the American Legion.  Potential designs were shown and discussed.  Also the type of stone/granite that might be used. Al Birrelle is working with Bill Conway on the getting estimates for the project. Bill also had done research on which town department would need to issue the approval and permits for the project.  The Cemetery and Parks would be the granting authority because the department maintains the upper common. Bill did find that view from the Town Hall to Spaulding School was supposed to be unobstructed.  No one saw a problem.  The cost of the project was also discussed; a rough estimate of $35,000 was mentioned depending on the type of stone and other associated labor cost.  The VFW does have the ability to open an account and hold the monies.  A possible “brick program” as a fund raiser was mentioned.  Bill would like to see some sort of mailing go out the 1st week of December.  Need to get to paper again on common sign.

Correspondence:

Procurement Law Update received from Selectmen’s Office.
Letter from Neshoba Tech requesting community projects.  Pam will draft a letter for next meeting.

Superintendents Report:
Letters have been received by the department reporting/complaining about theft of objects and plants from grave stones.  Both letters were dated 9/9/16.  There is an idea of who might be doing this but no real proof.

Discuss:
Tree Removal Shared Expense:   John needs to re excuse himself from this issue due to a conflict of interest.  Homeowner is a client.  There is a potential for the overhanging limbs to fall causing damage to stones.  More information is needed on the legalities of sharing the expense. The issue is tabled for now.
Beaver Dam:  Information was given to Town Hall regarding the coordinates and property lines, after a walk thorough.  It appears that the beaver dams are on private property.
Riverside Expansion:  Progress continues to be made.  Currently work is being done on the wall. Wood chips, stumps removal and rock removal being worked on. Will wait to seed area to weather is more cooperative.
Tree pruning Riverside Cemetery:  Quotes will be obtained for trees that need to be pruned or removed at Riverside work could potentially be done this fall.  Drew stated that tree work done at Hillside has been cleaned up and that the tree removal company hauled away wood and debris.

Next meeting October 11, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.

Meeting adjourned 9:00 P.M.
